The Future Subjunctive is an archaic form found today only in legal and literary texts.

Formula: 3rd pers. pl. preterite - ron + endings

3Usage

Usage of the Future Subjunctive

The Future Subjunctive is practically extinct in modern Spanish. It still appears in:

  • Legal texts: El que infringiere esta ley será sancionado. (Whoever violates this law will be punished.)
  • Proverbs: Adonde fueres, haz lo que vieres. (Wherever you go, do as you see.)
  • Literary texts of the 16th-19th centuries

In modern Spanish, it is replaced by the Present Subjunctive.
